What is an Air Operated Diaphragm Pump?

Air operated diaphragm pump is a liquid transfer pump that uses compressed air to generate driving force, so that the piston moves back and forth to generate suction and thrust, and can easily transfer liquids with particles and viscosity. This is a series of industrial pumps commonly used in industry. The advantages of air operated diaphragm pumps are high corrosion resistance, which helps to extend the life of the machine and reduce maintenance costs. In addition, liquids with special properties can also be transferred.

1. Since air is used as the power, the flow rate is automatically adjusted with the change of back pressure (outlet resistance), which is suitable for medium and high viscosity fluids. The working point of the centrifugal pump is set based on water. If it is used for fluids with slightly higher viscosity, it needs to be equipped with a reducer or frequency converter, which greatly increases the cost. The same is true for gear pumps.

2. Air operated diaphragm pumps are reliable and low-cost in flammable and explosive environments. The fluid will not overheat because the diaphragm pump has minimal agitation of the fluid.

3. In harsh places on the construction site, such as construction sites, industrial and mining wastewater discharge, due to the large number of impurities and complex composition in the sewage, the pipeline is easy to be blocked, which will cause the electric pump to be overloaded and the motor to heat up and be easily damaged. The air operated diaphragm pump can pass particles and has an adjustable flow rate. When the pipeline is blocked, it will automatically stop until it is unblocked.

4. In addition, the air operated diaphragm pump is small and easy to move, does not require a foundation, occupies a very small area, and is easy to install and economical. It can be used as a mobile material transferring pump.

5. In the treatment of hazardous and corrosive materials, the diaphragm pump can completely separate the material from the outside world.

6. Air operated diaphragm pumps can be used to transfer fluids with relatively unstable chemical properties.

The role of air operated diaphragm pumps in the industrial field is huge. Many things that are difficult for humans to complete manually can be completed by air operated diaphragm pumps, which indirectly ensures the safety of employees at work.

Advantages of Air Operated Diaphragm Pumps

Air operated diaphragm pumps have six major advantages, including reliable quality, long service life, low noise, low vibration, no deadlock, and fine workmanship. They can pump flowing liquids and transfer some media that are not easy to flow. They have many advantages of transferring machinery such as self-priming pumps, submersible pumps, mud pumps and impurity pumps.

1. The flow is spacious and the passing performance is good. The maximum particle diameter allowed is 9.4 mm. When pumping mud and impurities, the pump is slightly worn.

2. Air operated diaphragm pumps do not need to be filled with water. The suction range is up to 5.48 meters, the head is up to 84 meters, and the outlet pressure is≥7bar.

3. Air operated diaphragm pumps have no rotating parts and no shaft seals. The pumped media such as diaphragms are completely separated from the moving parts of the pump and the workpiece media, and the transported media will not leak out. Therefore, when pumping toxic, volatile or corrosive media, it will not cause environmental pollution and endanger personal safety.

4. The head and flow rate can be adjusted steplessly through the opening of the air valve (the air pressure is adjusted between 1-8.4bar).

5. No electricity is required, and it is safe and reliable to use in flammable and explosive places.

6. The air operated diaphragm pump has a simple structure and few vulnerable parts. The pump has a simple structure, is easy to install and maintain.

7. It is easy to use, reliable, and can be started and stopped by simply opening and closing the gas valve. Even if the pump is operated for a long time without medium or suddenly stopped due to unexpected circumstances, it will not be damaged. Once overloaded, the pump will automatically shut down and has self-protection performance. When the load returns to normal, it can automatically start and run.

8. The air operated diaphragm pump does not need to be lubricated with oil. Even if it is idling, it will not have any effect on the pump. This is a major feature of the pump.

9. It can transfer more viscous liquids (viscosity below 10,000 centipoise).

Six Pump Body Materials Diaphragm Pump

With the rapid development of the chemical industry and the global market, enterprises and manufacturers have more requirements and stricter requirements for corrosive media transportation. The leakage of toxic and corrosive media greatly affects the safety of operators and the pollution of the environment. Air operated diaphragm pumps can effectively prevent and solve such problems.

It is very suitable for air operated diaphragm pumps used in high-pollution, high-risk, strong acid, low-noise and clean room working environments. Especially for high-tech industries such as printed circuit boards (PCBs), semiconductors, packaging industries, super-corrosive transfer and optoelectronics industries. It is also widely used in general chemistry, coatings, medicine, food and beverage, sewage treatment industries, etc.

Air Operated Diaphragm Pump Diaphragm Rupture Alarm Reminder

GODO PUMPS also has diaphragm rupture alarm diaphragm pumps. The diaphragm rupture alarm diaphragm pump has two groups of diaphragms, namely the first diaphragm and the second diaphragm. The first diaphragm is in direct contact with the material, and a closed cavity is formed between the second diaphragm and the first diaphragm.

During operation, when the first diaphragm ruptures, the material will enter the closed cavity 2. At the same time, the material will pass through the right-angle ferrule pipe joint, the stainless steel pipe, and the three-way ferrule pipe joint, and finally flow out from the middle outlet of the ferrule three-way pipe joint.

After the material enters the material sensing cylinder, the sensor in the sensing cylinder will send a signal, which can be connected to control components such as PLC to realize signal feedback. The user can perform necessary logical operations based on the signal to realize early warning, ensuring that the user is aware of the early warning information that the diaphragm pump diaphragm has ruptured at the first time.

In addition, the sensor output signal can also realize sound and light alarms, automatically shut down the pump and other functions.
