Shipbuilding and Marine Industry
This selection scheme is analyzed based on the case of seawater transfer on an ocean-going ship.
◼Transfer material: seawater
◼Material characteristics: high salinity, containing a large amount of sodium chloride, organic matter and trace elements
◼Equipment requirements: corrosion resistance, acid and alkali resistance, no reaction with sodium chloride
◼Lift requirements: vertical 60 meters
◼Suction requirements: horizontal 5 meters
◼Required material: 316L stainless steel
Case Analysis
Seawater is a very complex multi-component aqueous solution. For seawater transportation on ships, 304 stainless steel, 316L stainless steel, and fluoroplastics can be selected. In view of the high salinity of seawater, they have stable chemical properties, are not easy to react with various elements in seawater, and have strong corrosion resistance
In addition, the water pumps on ships are often knocked and collided with the length of time they are on the ocean, so the durability of the pump body material must also be taken into consideration
◼304, 316L stainless steel materials: have good resistance to chloride corrosion, and are strong and durable, adapt to the complex working conditions on ships, and are widely used in seawater transfer on ships.
◼PVDF material: Advantages: The pH value of surface seawater is 8.1-8.3, which is weakly alkaline. Fluoroplastic materials can also perfectly perform transfer work and can greatly save costs.
